Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced knitter, at some point you will get stumped by a new stitch or technique. That’s when it helps to have a knitting buddy, supportive local yarn store, or a local knitting guild of friends who can help you puzzle through the mysteries. But what to do when you’re chomping at the bit to knit and no one else is around?

Try some of these great online knitting videos. Many are available for free, and if one site doesn’t have what you need, one of the others probably will. Here are some you can check out:

  • Knitting Help: Very clear audio and good pacing; videos are up close but a bit grainy
  • Knitting at KNoon: Up-close videos, although not as clear as some of the other sites
  • The Knitting Site: Clear, up-close videos
  • CraftSanity.com’s how-to on continental knitting at YouTube.com: Very clear audio; camera work is a bit shaky at the beginning, but it’s very clear once they go to the close-ups
  • Knit Witch: Very clear audio and video; has more than the basics, including such quirks as backwards knitting and magic loop, too

I’m new to knitting and am always on the lookout for websites to aid me. The links you had were very helpful. I wanted to pass along a video site I found that has a few basic how to videos with great tips on knitting. I’m not sure if you’re interested in more how to knit videos, but I found these useful when I was just starting out.
