In the wake of last month’s avalanche of new knitting books, it’s not that big of a surprise that this is a light month for publications about our craft. But never fear; publishers have not abandoned us. Here are two titles we can look for in May:

Wow! What is up with the publishing industry when it comes to April and new knitting books? They must be counting on all of us hitting the yarn shops with our tax refunds … right … how diabolically clever of them.

During the Merry Month of Carolyn (aka “March” and “my birthday month”), the publishing industry is obliging me by putting out a nifty lineup of new knitting books. A few of the gems you can expect to hit your local yarn shops’ shelves include:

Valentine’s Day is coming up. So tell whoever is crazy in love with you that you need a few more knitting books to enrich your stash. (Yeah, I know one of the books below comes out AFTER V-Day. But you know he’s gonna forget the flowers. Let him make it up to you with a glossy new knitting book … and a gift certificate for some yarn … a few days later.)

Squee! Another knitting novel hits the bookshelves today. I’m excited even though the theme of this book is sobering. Let’s show some support for author Ann Hood, whose paperback edition of The Knitting Circle: A Novel - a book about grief and a circle of friends - is now available.

[Disclaimer: Nope, I don't get a dime. Haven't read the book and don't know the author. Just sounds like an interesting book.]
